Quick answers

Winter Series FAQs

Is this suitable for new trail runners?

Yes. The 5km option is an excellent introduction, there are no cut-offs and you are welcome to run or walk at your own pace.

Do I need to be fast?

No. The main ethos is to enjoy the run, and the field includes a wide range of ages and abilities.

Should I choose 5km or 10km?

Choose 5km if you are newer to trails or returning after a break; choose 10km if you are comfortable spending longer on varied winter terrain.

Can I enter only one race?

Yes. Enter one event, choose several or complete all four.

Can I change distance?

Changes depend on available capacity and must be agreed before the event.

Do I really need trail shoes?

Yes. Winter cliff paths can be muddy, rocky and slippery, so suitable grip is important for safety.

How is the route marked?

Look for black arrows on yellow signs, red-and-white tape and marshals. Confidence markers reassure you that you remain on course.

Where can I park?

Venue-specific parking and arrival details for 2027 will be emailed before each race. Park responsibly and car-share where possible.

What time do the races start?

All four races are scheduled for 09:00. Arrive in time to park, collect your number and attend the briefing.

What about bad weather?

Races normally continue in winter conditions, but safety comes first. Follow any updated instructions sent before the event.

When are results published?

Results are published online after each race.

What if I withdraw?

Please check the current Trail Monkey terms and conditions.
