General Information
Are you ready for a thrilling night bunker run under the stars in Jersey? The Trail Monkey Batterie Moltke Bunker Night Run is coming up on Friday April 14th at 8pm, and we invite you to join us for a unique and exciting experience.
This night run is not your average race – it takes place both in an abandoned bunker and on the beautiful Jersey trails of Les Landes, and the course is lit only by the light of the moon and headlamps worn by the runners. It’s an experience like no other, and we promise you won’t forget it!
But that’s not all. Batterie Moltke Bunker Night Run is also a fun way to experience the trails at night as well as the unique opportunity to experience the German Bunker complex. You’ll be running through bunkers, navigating tunnels, and running on a fully marked trail course, and with different distance options available, from 5k to 10k, there’s a distance for everyone.
Not only that, but the event also features food and drinks at the end to add a nice social perspective to the even so you can compare notes on your experience, post race. Plus, you’ll receive a one-of-a-kind event t-shirt to commemorate your achievement.
So what are you waiting for? Register now for the Trail Monkey Batterie Moltke Bunker Night Run and experience the thrill of running under the stars in an unforgettable setting. We can’t wait to see you there!
Here’s an article in the JEP about the last event in 2019!
This promises to be an amazing, unique experience. We have teamed up with Tony Pike from the Channel Islands Occupation Service and they have allowed us exclusive access to the Batterie Moltke tunnel complex, so we thought we would make a night run of it! The tunnel itself is approx 200m long in total, so we will be starting overland in the Batterie Moltke Carpark and then making our way to the tunnel complex and heading underground through the tunnels built by the Germans during their occupation of Jersey in the Second World War, and then popping out the other side to finish the loop – (course TBC)
The night bunker run will be a 5km (approx) loop with a 5km or 10km race option, so you get to see the bunker once or twice!
The course will be run at sundown/night so head-torches are mandatory, also suitable trail shoes due to the technical off road trails. The course will be marked with signage and reflective arrows to guide the way and add to this unique running experience!
Entry for the race includes: Race number, water, race organisation, light snacks and soft drinks at the end. We will also be giving a commemorative race T shirt for each entrant.

Never Run a Trail Race or Night Race Before?
Its quite a daunting prospect for someone who’s not done either of these things before, I totally understand that and consequently Trail Monkey aim to provide a fun, inclusive and welcoming experience to all runners regardless of ability, speed or any other factor. Trail Running is fun, it’s good for the health (both mental and physical) and the Trail Monkey community is a lovely, welcoming bunch of people. We look forward to you joining us on the trails – just bring a smile, a pair of trail shoes and an open mind! (and a head torch in this case!) To give you an idea of what the night races look like here are a couple of links to previous night events we have done:
Environment
We are able to stage these events as a privilege and on the understanding that we “leave no trace”. We ask that any wrappers for gels, water bottles or snacks are either disposed of suitably or held on to until there is a bin available. Please be considerate to other people using the pathways – please give them right of way and say hello to everyone to show what a lovely bunch us runners are.
Parking
Will be available near the race start at Batterie Moltke, we would ask that runners park considerately and responsibly and where possible car share to minimise impact on other users of the car park. Parking is at the sole risk of the car owner and we are not responsible for any loss or damage to vehicles arising from using the public car parks.
Event HQ
Will be at the start and finish point at Batterie Moltke.
The Course (Marking and hazards)
The course will be marshalled and there will be course markings out with reflective strips to show the way. There are a few hazards on this course – slippery pathways, protruding rocks and roots and the pathways are very muddy – trail shoes are required for this race. If you do not have them you place yourself in danger of falling or injury, which of course we don’t want. Head torches are mandatory as the race is held at night.
We will issue race numbers at race check-in (date and time TBC) and these must be worn on the front of your body and visible at all times, otherwise we will be unable to record your result.
Results
Event results will be posted on our Facebook page within 48 hours of event end and will be emailed out to all competitors also.
